Background of Owner and President, Bill Gabbert
Decades of wildland fire management experience with the US Forest Service and the National Park Service in Southern California, the midwest, and the northern great plains; thirteen as an Area Fire Management Officer serving multiple national parks. Have experience on hundreds of wildfire, forest fire, prescribed fire, and wildland urban interface incidents.
Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors for the International Association of Wildland Fire.
Experience in numerous ecosystem types, including Ponderosa Pine, Coulter-Jeffery, prairie, eastern, and chaparral.
Have written, reviewed and approved numerous Fire Management Plans, Environmental Assessments, and Prescribed Fire Plans.
Was on the Editorial Advisory Board and a regular contributing author for Wildfire Magazine.
Was a paid callman for Alpine Fire Department in California.
Seven years experience working on a Type 1 National All-Risk Incident Management Team, managing incidents such as hurricane and flood recovery, high-profile special events, presidential visits, and large administrative project planning efforts.
Worked on Incident Management Teams on wildland fires in various capacities, including Incident Commander, over a 16-year period.
Assisted in writing Continuity of Operations Plans for four federal facilities in Washington, D.C., to determine how operations could continue following a sudden large-scale loss of facilities and/or personnel.
Have written customized law enforcement Standard Operating Plans, including: Weapons of Mass Destruction, Active Shooter, Mass Evacuation, and Unattended Package
Incident Management Qualifications include: Incident Commander Type 2, Prescribed Fire Burn Boss Type 1, Prescribed Fire Manager Type 2, Planning Section Chief Type 1, Wildland Fire Investigator, Operations Section Chief Type 2, Infrared Imagery Interpreter.
